Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
A final picture from Queenstown.  The picture was taken just after we had returned to Queenstown following our Routeburn hike, more on that later. Before returning to Japan through Seoul (see my November 06' blog), we stopped by the city of Christchurch, which is the third largest city in New Zealand.  The above statue of James Cook is located in Victoria Square.

This picture is from Cathedral Square, which is one of the top tourist attractions in Christchurch.  It is a lively square, and I found the aboard chess board to be fascinating (though perhaps not a very efficient method of playing chess). Another picture from the Cathedral Square, with Christ Church in the background.  "The Anglican cathedral of Christ Church in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand was built in the second half of the 19th century. It is located in the centre of the city, surrounded by the plaza of Cathedral Square. It is the cathedral seat of the Bishop of Christchurch".

One aspect of Christchurch that perplexed me was the number of goths, also known as urban white trash.  Perhaps something special was going on while we were in Christchurch, but there were plenty of young losers around dressed up in black clothing.  I thought the goth subculture died out in the 1990s, but unfortunately I was wrong. The ocean is located only 20 minutes away from the city centre, and Yuka and I went to check out the South Pacific Ocean.  As usual, I am looking extremely good looking wearing my Emporio Aramani sunglasses.
