| Simon's Town is a village and a naval base near Cape Town, and is located on the eastern side of the Cape Peninsula. |
Simon's Town is now in effect a suburb of greater Cape Town, and has become a popular tourist attraction. |
| In addition to a beautiful location and white sandy beaches, there has been a colony of African penguins at Boulders Beach since 1985. |
Boulders Beach is located a few
kilometers to the south of Simon's Town, and is therefore easily accessible. |
| It is a bit of a mystery why the penguins suddenly decided to make Boulders Beach their home, but it certainly is popular with the tourists. |
The penguins are often eaten by seals, which our guide told us she had seen happen at Boulders Beach. It is apparently an interesting spectacle. |
